Peter and his son Ethan returned to Hervey Bay for their school holiday Autumn adventure and were keen to fish with me again they had some good fun together with a variety of species,Great to see and fish you again guys see you next trip.
Peter was keen for his boys Patrick and Scott to experience some lure fishing for the first time, they had some fun with some mac tuna and watched big Bull Sharks eat some of their fish right beside the boat
Mick had a day out with me to learn more about catching tuna and to spend some time on the water with his son Ford.
Caleb had a good session on Tuna and Mackerel landing them and losing some to sharks and pulled hooks trying to beat the sharks.
There been some great Queenfish action for anglers on surface poppers and subsurface lures with the Lively Lures Surface Bloopers being the stand out topwater lure for them .
Steve and Tom had a good session on Queenfish and Mackerel
I’ve taken a few fly anglers to target the Morwong in recent times aka Blue Bastards ,Grey Bastards ,Milf [mother in law fish] Blackall and so on they have quite a few different names but most fly fisho’s know them as Bastards because of their frustrating refusals for fly’s.
These fish are such cagey critters and will test your mental resolve to the limit.
They will swim up to a fly look at it and simply turn away they spook very easily and fly’s need to be presented well in front of them so they find the fly and then small hops strips to get their attention .
Recently I had a session where I managed to win the battle and had a awesome time sight casting these fish in less than a meter of water on the flats of Hervey Bay.
Here’s a few pics from an awesome flats session where I landed 3 and had many more refuse the fly in around 2 hours of targeting them.
The fresh water Barramundi fished well right through Autumn in Lenthalls Dam and surrounding areas until the water temps dropped making them harder to tempt into eating lures.
