Hervey Bay Tuna and Fresh Water

Published on April 7, 2016 by in FCSF News

The annual Autumn run of Long Tail Tuna in Hervey Bay has been off to a great start but the sharks have been a problem again this year eating hooked fish and 69 year young angler Andy found that out pretty early in his trip to Hervey Bay here he  shows what they can do to your catch if you aren’t quick enough in landing them

Andy like his sushi but he prefers the whole fish

Ray had a few good days here landing some nice Long Tails on plastics along with Nannygai, Sweetlip and trevally on jigs and vibes.

I took him in search of a Big GT on Stick Baits and Poppers and he had a big fish come up but it missed the hooks so we switched to a popper and ended up with a consolation prize a Shark on the popper.

Not the target species but still a bit of fun

David and his sister Susan came up fro NSW to fish Hervey Bay and our fresh water they wanted the whole experience of the Fraser Coast region from Australian  Bass to Barramundi and then some salt water on Hervey Bay.

The tuna were very quiet on there trip but they did experience some good visual Spotty Mackerel fishing and some jigging with Micro jigs and plastics in glass out conditions .

Shunji hooked a few Saratoga but the hooks just didn't stay connected but that is common with these hard mouthed fish
